Whittington Heath Golf Club: A Historic Championship Test

Dating back to 1886, Whittington Heath Golf Club is one of England’s oldest and most revered golf courses. Having undergone a stunning transformation in recent years, it blends timeless tradition with modern championship quality, offering a unique test for the MGA golfers.

A True Heathland Masterpiece

Set within the rolling Staffordshire countryside, Whittington Heath is a classic heathland course, renowned for its firm, fast fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and undulating greens. With a landscape rich in heather, gorse, and ancient trees, every hole presents a beautiful yet demanding challenge.

Designed for the Purest of Golfers

With a par 71 layout, Whittington Heath rewards precision over power, demanding smart course management and a deft short game. Its fast greens and subtle breaks challenge even the most skilled putters, making it a true ball-striker’s course.

A Venue Built for Champions

A favourite among elite amateurs and professionals, Whittington Heath has hosted prestigious regional and national events, solidifying its reputation as a true championship venue. With its recent course redevelopment and world-class conditioning, it is now better than ever.

The Perfect Stage for the Race to Makkah

As the opening venue of the MGA Race to Makkah, Whittington Heath sets the tone for the season. Its demanding layout, rich heritage, and stunning scenery make it the ideal place to begin this journey. Will you master the challenge and start your campaign in style?

Liwaa Cup

The Race to Makkah UK Series does not end when the final putt drops. It builds towards the Liwaa Cup, a fierce North vs South showdown that brings together the very best performers from the season. Only those who finish inside the top four of each division in the Race to Makkah standings will earn their place, forming two elite teams of twelve players.

What follows is a fully hosted, complimentary, overnight experience and three rounds of match play featuring alternate shot, better ball pairs, and singles. Pride, regional rivalry, and the honour of lifting the Liwaa Cup await those who rise to the challenge.

  • No, an official handicap is not required to participate. However, to be eligible for the main prize—an all-expenses-paid trip to compete in the World Final & Golf Umrah—players must have an official WHS handicap and have played at least six official competitions between 18th April 2025 and 30th April 2026.

For the 2026 series, participation in the main competition is limited to players with an official WHS handicap (handicaps are capped at 21).

Additionally, your participation in this division will count toward your six required rounds for the 2026 series.
